In late summer 2022 Haven of Rest Orphanage received an urgent call of a young lady who was raped and now living with HIV as a consequence of the rape. The rape resulted in this lady becoming pregnant with fraternal twins. Haven of Rest Orphanage supported the young mother throughout the pregnancy with housing, prenatal care, clothes, food and mental health counseling. In April 2023 the twins were born healthy with no complications as a result of their mother’s HIV status. Imagine being able to see from birth then at the tender age of 10 yrs old your sight started to diminish. This was the case for one of the children in Amani Orphanage in Eldoret, Kenya.WIth no prior medical condition the devastation of losing an eyesight was too much for this child to bear. Doctors and specialists in Eldoret performing many tests all with the question can you see me? With an answer of tears of fear. The staff of Amani Orphanage needed funds desperately to fly the child to Nairobi where a specialist could perform the surgery. We sent out an SOS and angels responded in human form, donating more than needed for the flight to Nairobi, the surgery, and the flight back to E ldoret.

As the children play in Amani Orphanage staff watch the children and engage in conversation, then a disheveled woman wanders in the orphanage acting erratically and not saying a word. SHe weaves her way through the children and hoovers around a toddler. SHe looks at the toddler and wanders around and leaves the same mysterious way she came in. This is the story of a mother who was raped and gave birth to the toddler che comes to see weekly at the orphanage. The trauma from the rape resulted in a mental breakdown making it impossible for her to care for her young child, but the love of a mother is so strong that she comes weekly to visit her child. As she mourns the death of her mother and father the 11yr old does not know what her fate will be. As she arrives at Haven Of Rest Orphanage Center her elderly family members tell a story of how no one can care for her and needs a place now. Tears flowing down her face now mourning being left in an orphanage uncertain of her future tears became her food until staff comforted her and encouraged her. Fast forward Summer 2023 she celebrates the end of the school year as the top of her class with recognition in Math , Science and Reading. Your donations provided uniforms, textbooks and tuition.
